7 Ways to Develop a Positive Mindset to Achieve Anything You Want In Life

Whether you are new at exercise and losing weight or you have been yo-yo dieting for years now, it is possible to lose the weight you have to lose and keep it off for good. It all starts with having a POSITIVE MINDSET. Without a positive mindset, you are bound to fall off the wagon and keep on gaining weight. That is not what we want! I actually want you to lose weight. This concept applies to anything you want to achieve in life. So how do you develop and positive mindset?


1. Stop talking to anyone who discourages you and develop a team of supporters.


This is number one because this is where most of your self-talk comes from. If you’re hanging out with the wrong crowd then you’re going to develop habits like them and you will not see any progress that you would like to see. This happened to me when I was a kid and that’s when I learned that valuable lesson. When I was in middle school, I would hang out with the goths and the punks. They would cause trouble during school and break rules. I even got suspended for a day because I wanted to fit in.  So hanging out with them made me who I was. On my second year of high school, that was when I was tired of living that lifestyle and I started playing sports in high school and hanging out with people who wanted to succeed. My life started to turn around quickly and in return, I made the high honor roll and lost weight for the very first time. As you can see, it is very important to surround yourself with positive people and people who want to see you succeed. They can be your spouse, your children, friends, neighbors, and coworkers.


2. Meditate


I think it is important to learn how to reflect on life, so it can give you a good perspective on where you are at and where you are going. If you’re always doing something and you’re always on the run then at some point you are going to burn out. That has happened to me multiple times in my life because I thought I was being productive when I really wasn’t in the end. I would be creating for a short period of time and be procrastinating most of the time. All I needed to do is to learn how to meditate for 20 minutes a day and that would greatly increase my productivity.


3. Write into a Journal


This goes along the line of meditating, but instead of keeping all the thoughts in your head, you are writing them down and keeping a  tangible copy. This is extremely important when accomplishing your goals because it is important to see a track record of where you have been. This can be motivating and encouraging in itself! Another reason why journaling is so important is because you get to see your bad habits and what you can do next time to correct them.



4. Read Memoirs


I am a big fan of memoirs because I learn so much from them. Usually, memoirs are written by people who overcame an obstacle in life and achieved success along the way. It’s always inspiring to read about the success of others. I don’t know about you, but after I’m done reading a memoir it motivates me, even more, to not give up on my own dreams. My favorite memoirs include Eminem, Simon Cowell, Amy Poehler, Randy Pausch, Oprah, Ellen Degeneres, and Valerie Bertinelli.


  5. Exercise!


There are so many benefits to exercise: longer life, more energy, weight loss, blah, blah, blah! But once you start an exercise routine it’s impossible to feel depressed. So develop an exercise routine today! Every time I start an exercise routine I use Beachbody videos. I love them! Almost all their videos are less than an hour long, so it can fit into anybody’s schedule so there’s no excuse! Here’s the link to the Beachbody On Demand website: Beachbody On Demand As on April 26, 2017, I am on my 3rd week of the Body Beast program and so far I have lost 10 pounds from it. It works!


6. Volunteer

Volunteering has brought me a lot of happiness and positivity in my life. It has reminded me what is important in life and not to be consumed with myself all the time. Isn’t that what’s life about? Giving back? I know when I look back at life when I’m old and gray I going to think about all the people I helped in life and not about my career or business or how much money I have made. I make sure to volunteer and give back my time at least 5 hours a week. My favorite places to volunteer is at Dakin as a dog walker and at the Springfield Rescue Mission which is pictured. I encourage you to volunteer as it will give meaning to your life.  


 7. Socialize and Have Fun!

There’s no better way to achieve a positive mindset than to let yourself have fun every once in a while. When I was in high school I used to work on my music skills all the time and forgo some family celebrations because I thought being productive means you have to be productive all the time, but that’s not true! It’s okay to go to the movies with a friend every once in a while even though that means you won’t be running your business. While it is important to work on your business and career, it is more important to cherish the relationships you have right now. You’ll never know when they would be gone for good. So go out with your loved ones and enjoy yourself!

      You can achieve anything if you have a positive mindset. That has worked for me every time. Whenever I’m listening to the naysayers I became negative Nancy and didn’t accomplish anything, but when I used all the tricks above to achieve positivity that’s when I started achieving my goals.
